Human Rights in Iraq

A few days ago the Artimeeta group worked on a project, about Our Right to be protected from violence in Iraq, this service community finished in seven days, and six students participated in it.

We began the service community in different places in Iraq/Khanaqin; we began with the kindergarten in Khanaqin, after that in the primary school, then in the youth activity center, and in the last two days in two villages. The project's idea' is a new idea in Iraq, we were succeed in all places that we visited, especially in the villages, where we welcomed warmly from the children.

But regretfully we noted through our experience with the kids in the villages we found that they vulnerable to violence, especially the females, because they should leave their school after finishing the primary school, and some of them never go to school, and they forced from their families to work as a farmer, there is another type of violence, we noted that, there are some girls forced from their families to get married and they just 13 years old.

For us, it was a painful experience, because the violence stories affected on our emotions. These girls should be protected from this type of violence. These women in this picture came back from the farm, they been forced to work in this hot season, and they bereft of their simple rights, and worked. Their mistake is they females, it is painful.

We just talked to the kids and we couldn't talk to the youth or the old women, another thing was so strange!  Most of the males in these villages have two or three and some of them have a four wives, and so many of these men have more than ten kids, some times from each woman. I met a man says: I have three wives! he was 43 years old and one of his wives was just 14 years old.  We most help these females, they need protections, there is another story about them but I'm unable to write it.

Best wishes
